# A Message from Drone Stories Founders Lucas van Oostrum and Ralph Nauta

As we settle into the new year, we look back on 2023, filled with spectacular memories of flying amazing drone shows all over the world. Toasting to a 2024 full of new adventures, we sat down for a chat at our Amsterdam office to share last year’s highlights with you. 2023 took us on a wild ride, and we can’t help but be excited for what’s yet to come. Thank you for looking up at the skies with us and being part of the magic. Cheers to one more year of magic in the skies and to many more! – Luc and Ralph Thanks to our partners, DRIFT, Therme Group, PACE, and NOVA.

In short

We are Drone Stories. We flew the first independently orchestrated drone performance (Franchise Freedom, with Studio DRIFT) and have since flown 1,000 drones over Central Park, 15 shows at Burning Man and the F1 drivers in Las Vegas. Most shows fall between 100 and 1,000+ drones.

## 2023 in a nutshell

Wow, what a year 2023 was. Once again, a year of pushing boundaries and telling thought-provoking stories in the skies. We were very proud of being the first ever [New York City drone show](/drone-shows/franchise-freedom-in-new-york-central-park/), flying above Central Park. Our [Mercedes x AMG drone show](/drone-shows/mercedes-amg-f1-las-vegas/) during F1 in Las Vegas was another one for the books, [this video](https://www.instagram.com/p/C013pToooCa/) is one of our favorites. For [Kargo during Cannes Lions](/drone-shows/kargo-cannes-lions-festival-2023/) we launched and landed our drones from a barge. [During Coachella](/drone-shows/coachella-drone-show/) our drones were in sync with Björk’s performance, creating a stunning show. And what about the first ever Dutch [New Year’s Eve drone show](/drone-shows/amsterdam-new-years-eve/) combining fireworks and drones? Like we said, what a year…

LIGHTING UP THE CANNES LIONS SKY

The evolution and future of media were showcased in the sky during this Kargo Cannes drone show, brought to life by 1400 drones.
