Flying in Las Vegas: what to know
- Airspace approval
- Every show in Las Vegas needs an approval from the aviation authority for the exact site, date and time window. We apply for it. Near an airport or in controlled airspace it takes an exemption and more lead time, so start early.
- Site survey
- Our technical crew checks the take-off area, the safety zone between drones and audience, sightlines and the surroundings before we confirm. Parks, waterfronts and large open grounds in Las Vegas tend to work best.
- Weather window
- Drones fly in wind up to 25 mph (40 km/h) and cope with a few drops of rain. We plan a weather window and, where the event allows, a back-up slot. The pilot on site makes the final call.
- Local partners
- We coordinate with the venue, the local authority and, where needed, local production partners in Las Vegas so the show fits your run-of-show, your permit and your crowd plan.
