Drone Stories

Endangered animals, drawn in light

Kinship by DRIFT at Burning Man

Kinship is a drone performance by DRIFT, unveiled at Burning Man. 1,000 drones flew above Black Rock City and drew 4 of the 164,000 animals on the endangered species list. Art by Ralph Nauta of DRIFT, with Drone Stories as creative producer. The show is a call to change how we live, to protect the natural world.

Four animals

The show represents 4 of the 164,000 animals on the endangered species list. A whale and a butterfly were among them. The message is a call to action: we must change our behaviour to protect and nourish the natural world.

A thousand drones on the playa

Bringing 1,000 drones to the desert was a team effort. The drones took off from a launch field on the playa itself.
