Drone Stories

A flock over the desert

Franchise Freedom at Hegra, AlUla

In February 2020 Studio DRIFT flew Franchise Freedom at Hegra in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. 300 drones flew as a flock of starlings above the desert and an ancient tomb cut into the rock.

A flock over the desert

The swarm flew at night above Hegra. The tomb below was lit; the rest of the light came from 300 drones, moving the way starlings move.
