Music, art and technology
FORMAT (For Music + Art + Technology) was a new festival in the Ozarks, created by TRIADIC with C3 Presents and backed by the Walton family. It brought musicians and visual artists together for three days on a 250-acre airstrip surrounded by woods, a few minutes from downtown Bentonville.
The music line-up included RÜFÜS DU SOL, Khruangbin, Phoenix, Beach House, The War On Drugs, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, The Flaming Lips and Herbie Hancock. Among the visual artists were Doug Aitken, Nick Cave and Marinella Senatore.
A flock over the Ozarks
Franchise Freedom flew during Phoenix’s set. On the night, our show director timed the band’s songs live, so the swarm moved with the music to the second.
“It was a magical moment and every person that was there will never forget it.” Roya Sachs, co-creator of FORMAT
