The story behind the lights
Cyber Rodeo was the grand opening of Gigafactory Texas, Tesla's factory on the Colorado River east of Austin, and it was run like a festival: a rodeo theme, a night of music and product reveals, and a live broadcast. The drone show was the moment that tied it together for the guests on the ground and for everyone watching Tesla's livestream.
The sequence opened with the event itself, Cyber Rodeo lettered inside a drone outline of Texas with the Austin skyline behind it, then the name of the factory, and then the products: a Tesla in red and blue light, and the Cybertruck, whose hard, straight lines are almost made for drones. A launch like this has one image that has to travel, and every formation was designed to read on a phone screen as well as it did in the sky.
